The 2007 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships

More than 6,500 surf lifesavers from 200 clubs around Australia are expected to head to Scarborough Beach, Western Australia for the 2007 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships from 22 to 25 March 2007.

Along with competitors, around 500 officials and 100,000 surf lifesaving enthusiasts are expected to flock to the 2007 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. These numbers make the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships the largest event of its type in the world.

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships are the climax of a busy season for surf lifesavers. Clubs and individuals pit themselves against the elements and their peers to prove they are the best rescue and resuscitation outfits, ironmen, swimmers, boat crews, march past teams, ski paddlers, board riders and runners.

The 2007 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will be even more special, because it will be the Year of the Lifesaver – marking the centenary of the first surf life saving association in 1907.
